How Does Online Counselling Work?

All services are provided through a secure server called PrivacEmail in order to protect your privacy and confidentiality.  Once you have decided to access counselling, you can register on PrivacEmail by clicking the register button.  You will be asked to fill out a screening application and complete a consent to service form.  Once all the forms are completed and you have paid for service (via PayPal) you can begin accessing counselling services. Each time I respond to you, you will receive notification of my response via email.  That email address is used simply to send you a notification that my confidential and secure response is available to you at your PrivacEmail account.

How Long Will It Take For You to Respond to Me?

I will respond to your first exchange within two business days.

My responses are not automated and are based on one full hour of counselling time. I give a lot of thought to the information you provide me and prepare my responses in a  thoughtful and professional manner.

What Kind of Concerns Can I Come To You With?

With over 30 years of experience, I have worked with children, youth, women, men, families, couples and groups dealing with a wide range of concerns.  Listed below are some of the issues I am qualified to work with:

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Parenting
  • Care for the caregiver
  • Self-esteem
  • Trauma
  • Work place issues
  • Relationship conflict
  • Stress

I can also help with other issues not listed above and have extensive experience with Deafness.  If I think your concerns are beyond my experience or require specialized experience help, I will let you know.

What are Your Fees?

My fees are based on one hour of counselling time, which includes reviewing the information you provide me as well as preparing my response to you.  My fee for service is $100.00 Canadian.

Some insurance plans cover the cost of social workers.  Check with your insurance company.  Counselling Services may also be covered by your Employee Assistance Plan.

What if I’m in Crisis?

If you undergo a crisis while in counselling with me, you can send an email with “urgent” in the subject line.  I check my email messages daily, during the work week and will do my best to respond quickly.   However, this service is NOT a crisis support.  Therefore if you are experiencing an imminent, life threatening issue such as suicidal or homicidal thoughts – it is imperative you access immediate support by calling a local crisis line, dialing 911 or going to you local hospital ememgency department.
